What Is Islam? A Simple Introduction

Islam is a religion of peace, worship, and complete submission to one God, known in Arabic as Allah. Muslims believe that Allah sent guidance to humanity through many prophets, including Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus (peace be upon them all), and finally Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

The word “Islam” means submission — submission to the will of Allah. A Muslim is someone who chooses to live according to this guidance by worshiping Allah alone and striving to live a moral and responsible life.

The Holy Qur’an is the sacred book of Islam. It teaches belief in one God, kindness to parents, honesty in business, justice in society, and care for the poor and needy. Prayer, charity, fasting, and pilgrimage are important acts of worship that help Muslims grow spiritually and socially.

Islam teaches that all people are equal before God and should be treated with dignity and respect. It encourages peaceful living, strong family values, and responsibility toward neighbors and the wider society.

At Masjid Madera, we welcome anyone who wishes to learn about Islam, ask questions, or visit our place of worship.
