Madera Islamic Cemetery

The Madera Islamic Cemetery serves the Muslim community of Central California by providing burial services in accordance with Islamic teachings and traditions. Our mission is to ensure that every Muslim is laid to rest with dignity, respect, and in full compliance with the Qur’an and Sunnah.

We work closely with Masjid Madera (Madera Islamic Center) and trusted funeral service providers to support families during one of the most difficult moments of life.

Allah says in the Qur’an:

يَا أَيَّتُهَا النَّفْسُ الْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ (27) ارْجِعِي إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَرْضِيَّةً (28)
“O tranquil soul, return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him].”
— Qur’an 89:27–28

This cemetery exists to honor that return, ensuring that every Muslim is buried in a manner pleasing to Allah.

Our Purpose

Madera Islamic Cemetery provides:

Burial according to Islamic law (Shari’ah)
Janazah (funeral prayer) arrangements
Coordination with Masjid Madera
Assistance with funeral homes
Guidance for families during the burial process

If Death Occurs at Home, Hospital, or in an Accident

Contact the Masjid Immediately

Contact Masjid Madera (Madera Islamic Center) or call Brother Abdallah Salem Alsoukhelah directly and inform them of your wish to have them handle the body according to Islamic guidelines.

At the Hospital

If the death occurs in a hospital, Go to the Head Nurse’s Office. Provide the name of the funeral home given by Masjid Madera or Brother Abdallah Salem Alsoukhelah. Inform them that you have authorized this funeral home to handle the body.

Preparation of the Body

After release: Contact the individuals who will assist in washing (Ghusl) and shrouding (Kafan) the body. Arrange transportation with the funeral home as instructed by Masjid Madera. Contact Madera Islamic Cemetery and request the Authorization of Interment to be faxed or brought to Masjid Madera.

Transportation

The funeral home will: Transport the body from the hospital to their facility, Provide facilities for washing and preparation. Transport the body to: Your local masjid or Masjid Madera for Janazah prayer, Then to Madera Islamic Cemetery for burial
